Lessons
Subscription Program
Flute Studio students can elect to be full, half or part-time students. Classes are available upon request and placement. Students may also select to study on a per-service basis.
The Subscription Program is an effort to mitigate the need for a cancellation policy that is inflexible and causes students to pay for lessons not taken. Students subscribe for 10, 20, or 40 lessons annually, and have 52 weeks in which to take the number of lessons to which they have committed. Lessons that exceed the subscription will be paid per service, at the discounted rate of the subscription.
Adults and college students may subscribe for 10 or 20 lessons annually. High school and younger students may subscribe for 40 lessons annually. Full time students and classes will be scheduled first. Per-service lessons will be scheduled around the subscription lessons. Per service students may not participate in the ABRSM exams.
Classes are available for students whose academic and athletic commitments make a private lesson impractical. Class participation is assessed on an individual basis. The subscription for all class participants is for 40 lessons annually. Missed classes can be made up in the summer as 40-minute private lessons.
Once a student has committed to the subscription of their choice, the payment policy will be in effect. It is understood that all lessons in the subscription will be taken and paid for.

Billing Policy

Payments are due the first of the month. Bills for lessons will not be sent on a regular basis unless there are separate charges for music, exam fees, recital fees, or materials.

All music is ordered from a distributor, and the resulting savings will be passed along to the student.

There will be a $35.00 fee for returned checks.

Any account that is 30 or more days late will be assessed a 10% late fee per month. All accounts must be brought up-to-date before exam entries will be filed.

ABRSM Exams will be billed three months prior to the exam.

All recitals will require a 50% deposit one month prior to the event.

Accompanist fees will be billed by the accompanist.

Cancellation Policy

Any reasonable explanation for a missed lesson will be honored. Due to the subscription policy, a last-minute cancellation will be excused due to illness, bad weather, or other unavoidable situation. Other than for unsafe traffic conditions, this courtesy will not be extended after two “no-shows” in a given academic semester. Generally, 24 hour notice is expected for an excused cancellation.

Accompanied Lessons

Six lessons each academic year will be accompanied at Mrs. Fischer’s studio. These will be scheduled to coincide with the ABRSM exams and with studio recitals. The accompanied lesson will be the same day and time as the regular private lesson, only the location will change.

Studio Recitals

There are two studio recitals. The ensemble recital will take place in the early spring, and a traditional solo recital will be scheduled the first weekend after Memorial Day. The solo recitals are professionally recorded and students will receive a CD of their performance.
